Do you need a break from your routine? Then "Cabin On The Lake" is it!! Located in Lake Lure at Rumbling Bald Resort. Our Peaceful, private mountain retreat will rejuvenate your soul. Our classic A-frame log cabin style home is located on Lake Shumont/RBR (map on VRBO does not show it on the lake BUT it is). Lake Shumont is a private, 29 acre, non-motorized lake. Perfect for enjoying swimming, floating, fishing and canoeing. We have a ladder on the dock for ease into and out of the lake. Our backyard is a playground for both young and old. Enjoy a good book, roasting marshmallow and grilling out on our back deck area. Family get-together's around our outdoor fireplace is perfect for everyone, even the fireflies!



Our log home is located approximately 2 miles from the “Heart” of the amenities of Rumbling Bald Resort. Enjoy boating and swimming in warm weather and hiking year-round. As guests of “Cabin on the Lake” you will have access to all resort amenities, including beach and lakefront swimming, two 18-hole Championship golf courses, two driving ranges, three restaurants and two lounges, three swimming pools (one indoor heated), indoor whirlpool spa, massage therapist, manicurist & facialist, private fishing on Lake Shumont. There are kayak, canoe, SUP Boards, pontoon and paddle-boat rental available from the Cabana at Rumbling Bald Resort. You can also enjoy sport fishing on Lake Lure, lighted tennis courts, horseshoes, adult fitness classes, playground, daily adventure outings (May to August), multipurpose aerobics and classroom, exercise and fitness equipment room, steam and dry saunas, multi-use sports court, bocce ball court, croquet court, zero-entry pool with lazy river, 18-hole miniature golf course, sand volleyball, mountain biking, as well as a sunset dinner cruise.


PLEASE NOTE: that although you will have access to all amenities at Rumbling Bald resort, there will be additional charges for the use of some of those amenities such as golf, miniature golf, boat rentals, cookouts, spa services and special events.

  On our recent stay with 3 couples, Cabin on the Lake was an excellent choice. The house was spotless, well-equipped (including a nice flat screen tv with all the DISH network channels), had comfortable furniture/beds and fluffy linens. The highlight for us was the view of Lake Shumont from the screened porch and the awesome outdoor fireplace. The house is a 5 minute drive to Rumbling Bald Resort's plentiful activities and marina on Lake Lure.

  Our weekend at the lake was wonderful. Cabin was very clean. Kitchen was well stocked with anything you needed to cook with. Bathrooms were very clean and had plenty of towels . Would recommend this cabin to anyone. Only thing we would do next time would bring firewood for outdoor fireplace and some floats for lake. Couldn't figure out wifi or tv.

  What a lovely place to spend a few days ar Lake Lure. Cabin was well furnished with every thing we needed. The view was lovely sitting on the screened in porch while we drank our coffee every morning.

  We had a wonderful time with our family vacation at Cabin on the Lake! My family was so thrilled with the house, and it had plenty of room for two couples and a tween. The house was clean and well-furnished. The check-in and check-out process were super easy. The only thing I would suggest is some cobweb removal in some of the higher spots along windows and doors. That wasn't enough to stop us from having a wonderful time. We would definitely come back again!

  We had a really nice long weekend here. The home is very clean and it was great to be on Shumont Lake - very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the dock and canoe, and it was convenient to have resort priveleges at Rumbling Bald - only 5 minutes away. The home was clean and in great shape when we arrived. Dinner at Larkin's was excellent. Would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

  Great family vacation rental, quiet community, peaceful and so relaxing! We stayed at this cozy cabin for a week and couldn't ask for anything more perfect. All things you need for your stay are there, just bring your clothes, fishing gear, and beach towels. Local grocery 10 min. away. We fixed most meals in the cabin, but also enjoyed a few local restaurants. The view of private Lake Shumont and surrounding area was picturesque while sitting on the couch or from one of the screened porches. The cabin is charming and has such a cozy feel. We enjoyed using the hand-made pottery by the cabin owner. We loved having access to the Rumbling Bald Resort amenities; this is such a bonus to other cabin areas. We enjoyed Lake Lure, beach/lake access with Sup Board and potion rental, spa/massage, and multiple pools, including one indoor pool. The location of this cabin easily allowed access to other local activities like visiting the Biltmore Estate, horseback riding at Cedar Creek Stables, and zip-lining at Canopy Ridge Farms. We enjoyed the natural wildlife within and around the area like deers, turkeys, box turtles, and stinks. We didn't want to leave such an amazing cabin. We loved our stay and would highly recommend to others.

  The cabin is wonderful! Location is great with a beautiful view. It is well appointed and comfortable. Dock with kayak and canoe allowed family to fish and have fun on Lake Shumont. Screened porches were awesome. Area with fireplace/swing/gazebo was great too. Access to Rumbling Bald Resort allowed us to use the golf course and Lake Lure beach which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was a quiet and peaceful weekend. The rental agent was a pleasure to work with and made sure we were all set upon arrival. She provided plenty of information about the cabin and area which was very helpful.

  Our week at Cabin on the Lake was all that we hoped for and so much more. The setting on the private lake was quiet, peaceful, and so beautiful. The cabin - both indoors and outdoors - was artfully decorated, super comfortable, and just charming. The cabin was impeccably clean, and had everything we needed for cooking and daily life; but also so many extras - beautiful dishes, quality linens, a nice TV, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, outdoor equipment in great condition. The community was very quiet, yet conveniently close to the local resort, with lots of activities for the whole family. We enjoyed a few good meals there, too. Local convenience store was handy, but the full grocery store just 10 minutes away was a lifesaver. The drive to Chimney Rock was short, and a trip well worth making. Lastly, the staff and owners were so helpful and friendly in all of our interactions. Our only regret was that we had to leave. Cannot wait to return!
