Lake Lure continues to recover from Helene! We’re pleased to say that Mallard Cove is again welcoming guests. Thanks to all ongoing relief efforts, roads, power, water, and Wi-Fi, are restored. Although the Chimney Rock area, Lake Lure beaches/waterfronts are currently closed, there is much that our beautiful foothills area has to offer. Come to Mallard Cove as a peaceful retreat and “home base” for visiting nearby towns and attractions. Area restaurants, including Lake Lure and Asheville are reopening. There's golf at Rumbling Bald, area wineries, breweries, music, hiking trails, waterfalls, and more within an hour's drive of Lake Lure. Tryon Equestrian Center pavilion is hosting some of the Chimney Rock businesses that suffered from the storm. Saluda, Hendersonville, Forest City, Ashville, and larger cities like Greenville, SC are great day-trip destinations. Beyond the Dining Room is a Family Room with HD smart TV, cathedral ceiling, stone wood-burning fireplace. Half Bath just off the Entry Foyer. Screened Porch with additional dining/ gas grill (propane provided).

UPPER LEVEL: 1300 sq ft. Master Bedroom Suite with King Bed, large custom Dressing/Closet area, Bonus Room Queen sleeper-sofa and desk area. Master Bath is spacious, 2 vanity sink areas, huge walk-in shower, jetted tub.

LOWER LEVEL: FR with combo Pool Table/Ping-Pong Table, HD TV, Queen sleeper-sofa. Kitchenette/Bar area. Three Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with two Twin Beds & Bedroom 2 with Queen Bed are separated by Jack-N-Jill Bath with double sinks, combo tub/shower. This is our second stay at Mallard Cove. The house is spacious enough for our group of 4 couples. We enjoy the lake and surrounding areas to visit. The very large deck above the boat house is a great gathering place. We also enjoy the use of the paddle boards that are provided. Would highly recommend.

The house is very spacious and has everything you need. Super private with excellent lake access (your own cove so the kids can swim and use the SUPs/Kayaks without fear of boats!). This is the fourth different house we've stayed in at the lake and it is our favorite. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful time at Mallard Cove! We brought the entire family which included our 5 grandchildren. This house is located in a cove with no other houses which was perfect for our grandchildren. Easy entry into the water a private setting where we spent much of our time. Having the boat was a plus also. The house was clean and had plenty of space. We enjoyed the covered porch that overlooked the lake. Sue and Steve at Buffalo Junction were great! They responded immediately if we had any questions. We will be renting here again!

  So glad all had a fun time at Mallard Cove. This wonderful estate lake home does provide lots of room for larger gatherings and multi generational families. Unfortunately, the pontoon will no longer be offered in 2025, however, much to offer and still in great proximity to many area attractions. This home did not disappoint. We wanted for nothing and that included both the kids and adults in our group. We especially found the stand up paddle boards, kayaks and boats a memorable addition and resulted in us not leaving the house, by car, once during our 4 night stay!! We left Lake Lure and this home feeling like we found a new special place to come back to again and again! We just hope that Mallard Cove is available the next time we come back!

The house is beautiful. The boat was a perfect addition to this trip. We are boat people so we used it bunches. We was able to get a taxi's to Asheville to do a brewery trip along with eating at Lobster Trap oh it’s a must place to hit. chimney Rock is a lovely little hidden germ. Lots of cool little places. The brewery this is a great stop.t The only downside was the very short notice that the natural hot tub pool was broken. That was the only thing I can say. They made it right by doing a small refund. We definitely missed it after our hike we took. We will continue to come back to this area.

We strive to provide the best experience and the in-ground hot tub pool was expected to be operational, however, unfortunately, the pool service found the problem to be more extensive than expected parts not immediately available. We proactively contacted you when informed, with the owners’ sincere apologies, offering a refund in advance of you asking for one, pro-rating based on the total cost/length of stay, then processing it promptly. There are circumstances that are sometimes beyond anyone's control, and this happened to be such a time. We did our best to make it right and that the other amenities, such as the pontoon for one, included with this home were enjoyed by all. The repairs are now completed and available for guest use.

This house was amazing! Very clean and the location was great! It was very close to Ingles...which made it very convenient. I was there with a group of ladies and we had the best time. The house had everything we needed and more. The boat deck and large porch area seemed to be where we spent most of our time. The beautiful outside stone fireplace was very nice. The agents, Steve and Sue Gage, were super nice and very helpful. They were always available to answer any questions we had. I would most definitely rent again. Even though we went the weekend of Hurricane Ian, we generally escaped the wind and rain that came with that and had a good time.

The house was clean, very well equipped and we enjoyed the use of the hot tub and pool table.

It is close to the supermarket, several restaurants and all the Lake Lure attractions.

Back to Hurricane Ian. The town lowered the lake 3 feet in anticipation of a lot of rain that didn't come. As a result, we couldn't use the pontoon boat which was a big disappointment. However, the agents gave us a rebate which they didn't have to do, which was good karma for them.

We will be back.

This property had EVERYTHING we could have possibly wanted. We had a hard time leaving to even go exploring the beautiful surroundings. The kitchen is so well stocked with anything dish, cookware, and appliance you could think of! The house was so spacious that you could be by yourself or with the group and feel so comfortable. The teenagers want to go back next year!!! (So do the adults) the property managers were so friendly and helpful. We got email updates leading up to our stay that evening included recommendations of things to do in the area!

Private Cove on Lake Lure was an amazing place to stay! The home was built with a lot of detail and comfort. We have two grown children and their spouses and one grandchild and we all had plenty of space. The hot tub, the pontoon boat, the paddle boards, the KITCHEN! All of it made for a wonderful family getaway. Friendly note: If anyone stays in the master suite and do not like the morning light, bring an eyemask. All other rooms have blinds.

Welcome to Mallard Cove - A gorgeous Lake Lure estate on it's own private cove!

The home looks out over the cove, across the lake, and to the mountains beyond. Surrounded by beautiful woods, Mallard Cove is a peaceful, private sanctuary.

Beautiful outdoor spaces include a brand new stone patio and fireplace.

A long dock runs along the landscaped slope up to the patio/fireplace. This is a view from the dock back toward the boathouse

Rental of Mallard Cove includes use of 2 Kayaks and 2 Stand-Up Paddle Boards for the duration of your stay.

Covered front entry driveway has easy no-stairs access to the main level of the home.

The Entry Foyer opens to Kitchen, Dining and Conversation Areas. There is also a Half Bath off the Entry Foyer to serve the Main Level.

Well-stocked Kitchen includes gas cook top, 2 sinks, beautiful custom cabinets and lots of work-surface... perfect cooking space for larger groups and holidays.

Craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident everywhere. From the antique door repurposed into a dining table, to the custom-made "twig" shutters
