TRANQUILITY CHALET

Tranquility Chalet is a peaceful, private lakefront retreat on Bald Mountain Lake, located in the Rumbling Bald community at the North end of Lake Lure. Bald Mountain Lake is a 65 acre private, non-motorized lake. You’ll enjoy fishing, boating (4 single kayaks, 2 SUP boards, Peddle Boat are all provided for guest use). Brand New stone fire pit area at the lakefront! Tranquility Chalet is professionally managed and cleaned with professional linen service.
As guests of Tranquility you’ll enjoy access to amenities at Rumbling Bald - private beach, lakefront swimming, two championship 18-hole golf courses, driving ranges, restaurants/lounges, outdoor pool, indoor pool, whirlpool, steam and dry saunas, fitness center, spa with massage therapist, hair and manicure salon, 18-hole miniature golf course, lighted tennis courts, pickle-ball, basketball court, sand volleyball, scenic boat cruises, boat rentals and much more. Enjoy boating, fishing and swimming in warm weather and hiking the year-round. Guest passes included at the home, allow for complementary use of pools and fitness center. TRANQUILITY CHALET Layout:

MAIN LEVEL: Updated Kitchen, well-stocked for home cooking. Open floor plan Family Room has wood burning fireplace (available for guest use October 1 thru March 31), HD TV with streaming services (Live TV is complimentary - use your credentials to log in to Netflix, etc). Dining area table with 8 chairs + 4 seats at the Kitchen breakfast bar. Direct access to nicely furnished Screen Porch and wrap-around Deck with seating and gas grill (propane provided). 1 Queen Bedroom with view of serene water feature pond. 2nd Bedroom with 2 extra-long Twin Bunks and 1 Queen Bed. Full Bath with combination tub/shower serves the Main Level.
UPPER LEVEL: 1 Queen Bedroom w/private deck overlooking the lake. 2nd Bedroom with 2 Twin Beds and balcony overlooking garden waterfall. Full Bath with combination tub/shower serves the Upper Level bedrooms.
LOWER LEVEL: Family Room with HD TV, Desk Area and access to Lower Level Covered Deck. Full Bathroom has walk-in shower and high-capacity, stacked washer/dryer.

This home has high speed internet, Wi-Fi and a local landline.

No Fishing License required on Bald Mountain Lake. License needed for Lake Lure

PLEASE NOTE: Although you will have access to amenities at Rumbling Bald with guest passes provided at the home, there will be additional cost for some activities such as golf, boat rentals, court time for tennis/pickle ball, mini golf, special events.   Our party of 6 (including 3 from Europe) were THRILLED with: the 3-story chalet's external and internal beauty, comfort (beds, decks, fireplaces & sitting areas), modern conveniences (kitchen & electronics), peaceful lake view, water toys, resort amenities (many for all ages & interest), and closeness to major attractions (e.g., hiking trails, Biltmore Estate, Chimney Rock, and many more). We were nestled in the forest overlooking a small-beautiful lake with a close view of Bald Mountain's rock face. The waterfowl was fun to watch yet calming. The stone and wood architectural refinishing was very well done. Even the professional landscaping is appropriate for the lake-forest environment while enhancing the chalet's appearance and surroundings. Also, the nearby grocery store, Ingles, was amazingly well stocked with great variety in all depts that satisfied our diverse taste palettes (especially cooked on the large BBQ grill). Local restaurants were plentiful. And very importantly, the property managers are professional, responsive, and very nice folks.

From the moment we walked in we could tell it was well taken care of, and very clean. It had the best stocked kitchen of all the places I have rented in the past. We even had a thunderstorm which my friend from CA just loved because she hadn't seen rain since Feb. or been in a thunderstorm since she moved away from CT!! The view was so calming, perfect for sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee or an evening cocktail. I would definitely rent TC again and recommend it to anyone.   This house was perfect for a summer vacation with the 3 teenage grandkids. The house was clean, well stocked, and well thought out. There were multiple areas for hanging out, including a sunroom, a lower level with TV, living room, and 2 decks. All the beds and seating were very comfy, including the 2 reclining chairs.
  
  The lake was great for the kids to play on as there were no motor boats whizzing by them as they kayaked and paddle boarded. And there were plenty of kayaks for all 7 of us to be out at once.
  
  One of the best parts of this house is the use of the Rumbling Bald resort. We made use of the pool, putt putt golf, pontoon boat rental (highly recommend), and the restaurants.
  
  The 2 things to be aware of about this house: lots of stairs from the car to the house and the house to the dock, 20 minute drive to the nearest grocery store. They weren’t an issue for us, but might be for others.
  
  We are already talking about renting this house again in the future. We were there in late June and the water was warm for swimming, but the fall timeframe would be gorgeous if you caught the autumn colors.

Our only difficulty was with the need to park at the top of the hill and walk up and down the stairs or ramp to get to the house. This would not have been a problem at all except that everyone in our group is over 60! Unpacking and packing the cars with all the stuff we brought was quite a workout. But once we were settled in the house, all was wonderful!

  Tranquility Chalet was a beautiful combination of an older cabin feel but remodeled to make it feel new. It was beautifully decorated but very appropriate for children. We had 4 adults and 4 children under 9 and the layout worked perfectly. The children loved the lake with the paddle boat and kayaks. The property was very private and we only occasionally saw others on the lake. The children were a little disappointed with not catching fish but loved all the geese that visited daily. Even though it was October, two of them swam in the lake. The dock was perfect with a ladder for getting in and out. It was a very clean property with all of the amenities we needed. We traveled into Chimney Rock and Hendersonville for the day. The kids loved Gem Mining. Buffalo Properties was very easy to work with. We would definitely choose this property again.

  We had an amazing vacation at this Bald Mountain Lake house right on the water. We used the peddle boat and kayaks every day and even brought a paddleboard along. The lake's water temperature is perfect for swimming. 5 of us stayed here and had plenty of room to spread out-and all of the bathrooms are good sized and updated. The house has an old cabin in the woods feel to it with some modern decor and updates. The views from the house onto the lake are beautiful. My husband worked on zoom calls from the basement and the wifi worked better than expected. As others have mentioned, watching a tv show is a 5 steps process that requires reading the included instruction sheet. We loved having use of the Rumbling Bald Resort and used it to go for runs, swimming at their beach, and for the pool. We ordered our first dinner from there as well and it was delicious. The property managers were very responsive and helpful. We did have a power outage for a few hours while it was dark, but the battery powered candles helped us find our way around. The only down sides are: because the house is on an old septic system, you can't use the disposal; and you have to drive your garbage over to Rumbling Bald to dispose of it. We wanted to rent a pontoon boat on Lake Lure, but the 4 rental places we tried were booked for 5 days in advance. So I recommend making those reservations a week ahead of time. We hope to return next summer!

  We chose Tranquility Chalet as a meeting spot for our two families and we had a wonderful time. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 5 teenagers. The home is lovely, with a woodsy, cabin vibe. It is comfortable and very clean. The kitchen was very well stocked - we cooked lots of meals and we were able to find every type/size of pot/pan/utensil that we needed. Some vacation rentals have pantries stocked with staples, such as oils, flour, spices,etc leftover from previous renters but that was not the case here, so you will need to bring your own:). The lake is beautiful and the kayaks were great, we used them quite a bit. You can swim in the lake but you cannot dive or jump off of the dock, the water is quite shallow at the dock and the water is a little murky. Once you get out a little, it gets deeper and nice. No big deal. We brought our own floats and tubes and we had a great time using the lake. The decks on the house provide amazing views and we were able to use the outside sound system to hear music while we were in the lake. The Rumbling Bald resort is only a 3 minute drive from the house and we used its beach and lake several times. We rented chairs and umbrellas and paddle boards. This beach is on Lake Lure, which is much bigger than the lake the house is on. The teens loved paddle boarding and buying snacks and ice cream there. You can bring your own chairs and umbrellas to use there as well. The pool seemed a little small and boring for our teens, though. We really enjoyed our time at Tranquility Chalet and we would definitely stay there again. It was a very relaxing stay, the house was very clean and comfortable and the lakes were beautiful. The property managers were very easy to communicate with and very responsive- we needed batteries for the remote controls and she dropped them off within the hour!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. From the moment we walked in the door you could smell it was clean. Plenty of towels were provided and the owner's truly provided everything we needed to start our vacation. I suggest on the first trip down the ramp to send someone tall to break through the spider webs (haha) We loved having access to the kayaks and paddle boat. It was lovely to listen to nature at night from the multiple porches. The grill is super nice and large enough to cook on for a big group. I wish the fire pit had been on since it is essentially the same as the grill and not wood burning because it would have been perfect for s'mores and evening chats. The electronics are a little confusing but fortunately our tech kids were able to figure it out. There were directions but the old folks were still confused. I would also recommend a few extra hooks on the backs of bathroom doors for towels since hanging in closets wasn't effective for drying. The kitchen has every gadget you could want for meal prepping. The oven takes a while to preheat but was nice. Loved having the washer and dryer especially after spills in the lake in regular clothing. Rental company was super responsive to questions and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely stay here again.

  We rented tranquilly chalet for a week knowing that some of the kids, now young adults, would be coming and going at different times. We all enjoyed the property greatly. The peaceful setting was perfect. The kayaks provided just the right amount of activity. We ventured out to Chimney Rock one day and loved it. But the rest of the trip was spent at the house. I would recommend getting all the groceries you need for your entire stay because if you are like us you will not want to leave the deck and view of the lake.

  We had a great trip and the home was perfect for our group. Quiet and nice view. Great room, dining room and kitchen all connecting was nice for visiting. Bedrooms all large. The entertainment center was challenging to navigate, but we would return.

  We selected this cabin because of the location on the lake and the consistently strong 5 star ratings we read. Certainly tranquility is a good name for this cabin. All 6 of us enjoyed the location, the lake and the quiet setting with a spectacular view of the lake. We also enjoyed the other attractions in the area. I don't want to stress the negatives too much because it is a nice cabin, but all 6 of us think it is about a 3.5 star cabin in a 5 star setting. We all visit the NC mountains once or twice a year and stay in cabins priced roughly the same as this one. This is the first cabin we have encountered that does not have a master bedroom. Future renters should know it has two bedrooms on the middle level that share a small bath and two on the top level that share a small bath. There is a third bath in the basement which is set-up as a TV room. As you can tell from the pictures the kitchen is also small. There is also a mold/mildew problem in the two bedrooms on the middle level. This smell can trigger migraines in some people. Let me emphasize again, we enjoyed our stay, but would probably not rent this location again.

  This home was a perfect spot for my family Vacation. We loved using the kayaks and enjoying the beautiful view of Bald Mountain Lake. We used the resort amenities everyday and enjoyed a different activity everyday. Chimney rock was not a far drive and we rented a boat for a few hours on Lake Lure. This home was spotless with comfortable beds and large rooms. We were able to fill up the fridge and kitchen with a weeks worth of food for 8. We will be back next year!!!

  We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely house. There was plenty of room for 4 kids and 4 adults to spread out. My son loved the paddle boat the most. The adults enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porches. The downstairs porch was great for rainy days because it is covered.

  Our week vacation (4 adults, 5 children) was fantastic. Pictures do not do the house justice. House if beyond nice and made for a fantastic time. Only things that would have helped to know is...you can't walk or bike to resort. It's a very short drive but I was thinking we could walk. Road is way too narrow and steep.

  We spent the week at this "tranquil" home and could not have asked for a better experience! Both the adults and the teens in both families enjoyed the home....immensely! It was the perfect layout for 2 families with enough room for everyone to have his/her own space. Coffee on the deck each morning, enjoying the views, was the best part for the moms. We all enjoyed having access to the use of kayaks/boats and the dock allowed ample space for lounging and enjoying the lake. And the teens were thrilled that WiFi was available!!! We are hoping to stay again each summer!

  Our family stayed at this beautiful lake house from Monday to Friday for a quick autumn get-away in the mountains. My husband and I, daughter & son-in-law and two grandkids found the perfect space to relax, play, sleep, and get close to nature. We received a warm welcome by Sue, who gave us a tour and explained how things worked. We had access to the nearby resort amenities and were within convenient driving range to Chimney Rock, Asheville and Hendersonville. We fished off the pier during the day and sat on the deck at night watching the stars, and otters (or beavers?) playing in the lake near the pier. The house had everything we needed: comfortable beds, warm showers, kitchen (although we only cooked for breakfast and ate at local restaurants for lunch & dinner. Checkout instructions were simple - the hardest part was leaving. Everything about this lake house was perfect - will definitely be back next year!

  We've been taking family vacations to Lake Lure for the past 10 years and I think everyone enjoyed this house the most. While it's an older home, all of the renovations make it very comfortable. The multiple decks allow you to enjoy the great views of the lake. Everyone really enjoyed having usage of the boats for fishing and just paddling around.

  A beautiful well maintained lake-side home with full amenities. Our family enjoyed the lovely lake-side home during our stay in NC. We loved the home and had a great time using the kayaks, Jon boat, and paddle boat (life vests also available for guests). If this wasn't our first visit to NC, we would have enjoyed being able to spend more time relaxing on the property with the beautiful lake view, and trying the resort amenities. A modern large supermarket, Ingles, was located within 20 minutes away. A roadside farm stand yielded the sweetest peaches and apples. There were many restaurants to enjoy within 30 minutes. Although it was a bit embedded in location and added a bit more travel time to various excursions, Tranquility Chalet was definitely a highlight on our vacation!

  We went with a group of nine ages from 4 months to 63 years old and every single one of us enjoyed our time at the Tranquility Chalet! The house is INCREDIBLE, totally updated with all the original charm still in tact. Having resort access really took this home over the top, we spent a lot of time at the pool, played bingo, took a dinner cruise, took in all the amazing sights, and relaxed every evening on the decks. Lake Lure will not disappoint and the Tranquility Chalet is the place to stay if you want the most relaxing spot on the lake :)

  It was just wonderful. The weather was glorious and we just enjoyed a low key family weekend celebrating my youngest daughter's 22nd birthday. The house was so warm and comfortable - a lot of stairs but it helped me get my steps in!!! We especially enjoyed watching the geese - momma goose was guarding her eggs and daddy goose became quite attached to my husband - in fact we named him Charlie!   My parents live next door to this property. A year earlier I had planned to host a group of clergy colleagues at my parents house for our annual get-together. When my father wasn't able to travel, my mother contacted her neighbors and learned that the house would be available. Clearly the owners are good neighbors, and are kind and flexible people. The house was perfect for my guests, everyone was able to sleep where they were comfortable. We enjoyed cooking and eating together; we enjoyed the view from the deck (best on the lake!) and the use of the kayaks and paddleboat. We appreciated the location in the mountains, but also its proximity to Black Mountain and Asheville, where we took day trips. We also made use of the Rumbling Bald Resort for recreation. We were deeply grateful for the week at Tranquility Chalet.

  We spent a wonderful week in July at the Tranquility Chalet. There were three generations with us and everyone had a great time. Some of our favorite activities were kayaking, peddle boating, fishing (although only one fish was caught), and hanging out on the deck enjoying the peace and quiet. At the resort we took advantage of the golf, a pontoon boat tour of Lake Lure, a night of ice cream, and miniature golf. All in all, one of our favorite vacation spots. Would definitely recommend the Tranquility Chalet to anyone looking for a lake get away!
